Bulgaria completes Svilengrad-Turkish railway project

Bulgaria has wrapped up a 35.8 million euro project for the construction of a 18-kilometer electrified railway between the southern town of Svilengrad and the Turkish border, the transport ministry said.

The project was financed under the EU-funded operational programme Transport and was implemented by Czech company OHL ZS, the ministry said in a press release.

As part of the construction works a new railway bridge on the Maritsa River was built.
